Pulse

For my home learning I decided to track my pulse. Before I did any exercise my pulse was 80 beats per minute..

I walked up and down the paddock once with no stops and after that I tracked it again and it was 92 beats per minute.

I decided to run this time so I ran up and down the paddock with no stops again. We checked my pulse again after the run and my pulse was 124 per minute.

I set the timer to see how long it would take for my heart to go back to normal and it took 15 minutes.

Instead of tracking my pulse for 1 minute at a time we counted it for 15 seconds and multiplied that by 4.

I did my family's pulse but only when they had not done any exercise here they are:

Mum -  68

Dad - 68

Jess - 72

Becky - 88

why you should live in the country

There are many reasons why you should choose living in the country over the noisy, dirty, crowded city.

My first reason is less pollution.  Air pollution Is bad for the environment and your health it can cause lung cancer and heart disease, do you really want that to happen to you? Also noise pollution, surely you don’t want to be waken up every single night by the cars ZOOMING past your house.

Imagine if you wake up every morning to fields of green, fresh air, birds chirping and frogs croaking. Now imagine people crowded around you and lots of noise. I know where I would rather be!

Here are some advantages of living in the country. You will have more room to keep pets which means you can have more pets, like ponies, lambs and even cows. Kids learn better with smaller classes in the country but in the city there are bigger schools that means bigger classes that makes it harder for the teacher to teach.

You might think that the living in the country would be boring but that's so not true. There are always places to explore, trees to climb and huts to build. Things to do are only limited by your imagination!  So that is why you should live in the country.

Flying high

Mark was heading for mars he was going fast. Mark pressed the red button to stop but the red button  was stiff and Mark was getting really close to  mars now. Mark was now yelling and swearing at the red Button.

                               CRASH!

Mark was slammed up against the window cursing the red button in his mind. He could not feel his toes and something was stabbed in his tummy. Mark screamed in pain as he thought about how he would back to earth.

Rosalind Franklin

Rosalind Elsie Franklin was born on the 25th July 1920 and died on the 16th of April 1958.
Which means she only lived up to the age of 37! Rosalind died of cancer. She and her family were British and Jewish.

Her job was to look at DNA - RNA - coal and graphite although she is most famous for her DNA studies.

She described DNA structure & her work mate Maurice Wilkins gave her data ( studies) to Watson & Crick without her knowing & they used the studies and got famous for discovering DNA. They also got the Nobel prize when it was meant to be Rosalind’s.

Let’s take better photos!

These are the pictures I took while I  had a photograph workshop with my schools eLearning teacher Carol.

Ladybug line
The first photo of the ladybugs is on the wooden steps up to our school playground. My friend Tegan found the ladybugs and I thought that it would make a great close up photo.

The second photo is of the little baby Caterpillar on its mum's back. I found this photo at the school and thought it would was so cute it had to be one of my photos. This photo is a rule of thirds because the main caterpillars are on the top third line across the photo.

Slow and stripy

The next photo is a lonely leaf  in the sun light waiting for a friend. This photo is a rule of thirds because the main part of the photo is the leaf and I put the leaf in the side of the photo.I found this under the pool gate but it kind of looks cool as the sun shines through its tiny golden leafs.

Lonely leaf

This photo shows a snail's eye view and leading the eye, because you kind of wonder where the foot prints going and it is from me lying down on the ground so I could get the ipad as low as I can.

Where does it go?

Shave for a cure!!

Lexie, Lexie, shout 100 people. Lexie stands up her hands are shaking as the deep black cape is being domed up around her neck. Lexie slowly sits down on one of the high chairs.

"I cant look," I say as I dig my face deeper into my knees. I can here the faint sound of the scissors chopping away. I slowly pull my face up to see Lexie with uneven hair.

"Oh no" I say as the razor starts I grab hold of Tegan's hand ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ the razor goes over Lexie's head.

Lexie has no hair but she does have a big smile on her face.

EASTER !!

 Hi and happy Easter.
For Easter this year I was pretty spoiled  I got...
Millions of little Easter eggs,
 2 Easter bunny's,
3 marshmallow eggs
and 2 massive chocolate fish.
Don't you think that that much chocolate is enough to feed the whole of New Zealand.

In the Easter holidays Jess, Dad and I biked on the the Little River Rail Trail. This is the second time doing this rail trail except last time we didn't finish properly. We were biking for around 2 hours The part we didn't do last time was defiantly the hardest part of the rail trail because the wind was pushing us back. After the bike ride Mum Becky and Ashley came with us to a cafe. Then we went to Birdlings Flat.

Why don't you leave me a comment and tell me how your Easter was

Weetbix tryathalon

On Sunday I did the Weetbix Tryathalon, I had lots of fun. The swim and bike was the best I am little weaker at the run. I could hear lots of people cheering me on. The swim was 100 metres for the 9 year old's and I am 9. It was tight in the pool and hard get space for yourself without touching all the other 9 year old's.

We had to bike 4 km that was the best part because I love biking. The only problem was that I kept on getting stuck behind people slower than me, and I couldn't get passed them.

Then was the run but, I only jogged because I was to tired to run I could see the finish line now but not very well. So I started to sprint as fast as I could to the finish line which I could now see very clearly! When I got to the finish line Irene Van Dyk gave me my meddle. Irene is one of my favorite netball stars! Then I played around with my friends and had a look at the stalls.

Book Selling

Book Review: Sanspell by Elizabeth Pulford

Her mother's summer dress lay untouched, Abigail stood there puzzled. She should be dressed by now thought Abigail. “Quickly” said Abigail’s mum from behind her. “You will be needing warm clothes for this birthday trip”. Her mum puts a locket around Abigail’s neck and said “NEVER TAKE THIS OFF’’ in a stern voice.

Suddenly Abigail is whisked away into a new world. Soon a brown Ute comes up to Abigail and stops.
Who is in the ute?
What will happen next?
Will Abigail ever see her mum again?
What does the locket mean and why is she not allowed to take the locket of?

FIND OUT BY READING SANSPELL!

I would rate Sanspell by Elizabeth Pulford 4 and a half stars out of 5 because it is a little confusing but it is also a really good, fun book. I recommend this book for 9 year olds and up because it is a little scary.
